Bead Encrusted Bracelet - Seashell
A Bracelet is my favorite accessory, because I like to study it throughout the day. The designs are very intricate. I start with what I call a color story. Basically I hunt through my stash of beads with a color scheme in mind, collecting whatever size or shape I come across. I always say the beads determine the final design. So many times I start off with an idea and before I know it the design has taken on a life of it's own and just pulls me along.

Felted Purse - Santa Fe
My journey into knitting started when I was making a large red flower (designed by Rosemary Rickard Hill) with no idea what I was going to do with it when it was done. Around the same time, I happened to attend a local craft show and came upon a felted purse in this beautiful brick red color. I loved the color and the way it felt (no pun intended), so I bought it. I had it on my studio table while I was working on the large flower and realized the flower was being made for that purse. I learned how to knit, and the rest, as they say, is history.

I chose the name Beading Heart Art for its Native American feel. It is derived from one of my favorite plants (Bleeding Heart) and also as a reflection of how my art is created - from my heart. Beading is my passion - I love it.
I learned most of my beading techniques from Rosemary Rickard Hill, a Beaver Clan member of the Tuscarora Nation. She's a wonderful person and I am so happy our paths have crossed.
My daughters used to ask "What's for dinner?" Now they ask "Are we having dinner?" I lose all sense of time when I bead. Hours will fly by and I feel like I just started beading five minutes ago.
Every single piece is unique and created using high quality glass beads - some vintage, some modern. The Whimsy Pillows and Picture Frames are faced in velvet and backed with a coordinating cotton print. Dresser Crowns and the Treasure Boxes are covered in velvet and lined in either felted wool or ultrasuede. The Bead Encrusted Bracelets are primarily glass beads, but I do enjoy embellishing with shells, stones, vintage buttons and the like. Bracelets are backed with ultrasuede and are flexible enough to tighten to wear as a cuff or worn loosely.
Commissions are always welcome.
If you want to chat, or see what's on the studio table at the moment, please drop me a line or give me a call. I'd love to hear from you!
